Description
A prophet awakens. A demon rises. And one paladin stands between them.
Three centuries before Charlemagne’s reign, Merlin the Prophet foresaw a king who would forge an empire to lift Europe from the Dark Ages. But darkness is not easily defeated, and a demon lord is determined to end the prophecy before it begins.
The fate of it all rests with Maugis d’Aygremont, one of Charlemagne’s paladins, held captive in Avalon by the Lady of the Lake. Three fellow paladins race to save him, aided by an unexpected ally: Merlin himself, who knows the Lady’s wrath all too well.
The keys to salvation lie in the past, some in the age of Camelot, others in Verona during Charlemagne’s siege. Verona marked Maugis’ darkest days, and if he hopes to preserve the prophecy, he must confront demons both within and from the depths of hell.
Yet the darkest truth of Verona has not revealed itself – and when it does, both the prophecy and Maugis may be lost forever.
