I once wrote that every great journey tale needs a map. Well, the sequel to Enoch’s Device—titled The Key to the Abyss—is no exception. Here’s a peek at a wonderful map of medieval Rome created by illustrator Jeff Mathison that will be featured in my upcoming novel. I absolutely love this map! Feel free to let me know what you think.
The Key to the Abyss
Along with the map, here is a description of the novel:
AD 998. At a French abbey, Brother Ciarán mac Tomás interrogates a possessed man about a cryptic prophecy. The demon reveals that the enemies of God are searching for the Key to the Abyss foretold in the Book of Revelation. With it, they will free the fallen angels and bring about the apocalypse.
Determined to stop them, Ciarán and his companion Alais pursue a clue to the Key’s whereabouts in the heart of medieval Rome. But Alais has been having dark dreams of the Eternal City, sensing a terrible evil within its ruins. The city is also embroiled in a war between the Prince of Rome and the Holy Roman Emperor, who has besieged Castel Sant’Angelo, the place where the secret to the Key is hidden.
Yet finding a way inside the fortress is only one of their problems. For Rome is full of mysteries tied to the Key, from a secret concealed by a long-dead pope to an arcane tome written by the ancient race of Nephilim. And Alais’ darkening dreams may hold a vital piece to the puzzle. But the enemy is closing in, and if Ciarán and Alais cannot solve the mystery of the Key, nothing will prevent the enemy from unleashing the End of Days.
If you have any thoughts on the description, I’d love to hear them. Hopefully by next month I’ll have a cover reveal, followed by a launch date!
